Studio Visits..

So I've been emailing a few studio's that I'm interested in - I've had a studio visit arranged at Manifest ( I was meant to go this Friday for a full day but I'm ill and do not wish to spread my germs to a group of people I've never met) so It's been arranged for the 8th June with studio manager Martin. Cant wait.

I heard back from Mark at Amplitude Creative - he said he's quite busy so wont have a chance to meet with me..

And then I was lucky enough to hear back from Wendy at New English who said she was willing to give me half an hour anytime after the 18th June! Really excited about this and it's quite good as It's based in Leicester.

MOOOOO.

Just ordered some business cards from moo.com
Thought it was worthy of a blog post.

I wont get them until the 12th June though. Ooops.

Twitter
I tend to tweet quite a lot - I find that it's easier to follow design studios and creatives on twitter as you can see what they're up to quite regularly. It's also much easier to get in touch with other students too.

My current website is running through cargo - I find that it's easy to manage as it allows you to update projects quite easily and it also looks reasonably good too.

Behance
I've had behance running since first year I find that I don't always update it regularly but I've been trying to get projects on there asap.

Final Printed Business Card

Manage to print a quick mock up of my business card on my own printer, had a idea of what I wanted. Thinking it would really be best to print them from moo.com not looking for anything too flashy at the moment.

I printed onto glossy photo paper which did look quite nice, but would be a lot of effort to make up a load of business cards. Might just spend a tenner at moo.com

PPD2 Progress Report

I managed to finalise the pdf mail out that I had been designing to email to some design studios. I'm happy with it and decided to only attach 6 of my projects that I felt were the most relevant.

I haven't been the proactive with the whole PPD module as I've been quite worried about getting in touch with designers and studios. A few months ago I did manage to secure a visit to Manifest, for 2 days in June after talking to the studio manager Martin on Twitter.. Apart from this I have just been looking for studios that I'm interested and just looking through the projects that interest me the most.

Obviously haven't really encountered any problems yet as I've not done much, I'll start to worry when no one gets back to me. The next step is to really think about what I'm going to say when I contact people once I've sent a few emails out I think i'll be more confident about getting in touch with other designers. I think I need to update my website too, having a few problems with the layout so need to get that finalised soon. Also need make sure my behance profile is all up to date and ensure everything is liked and accessible.

Had a quick chat with John and he told me not to be shy, to really think about the studios I'm interested in and he also said that he liked the progress I'd made on the mail out.
